The clients desire was to have an island with both the stove and the sink and to create a light filled functional kitchen that flowed into the eating area.
Their existing kitchen was a small U-shape and the kitchen and adjacent eating area were dark. The raised ceiling with skylights were a challenge to create given structural constraints and existing stairs up, but the goal of light was met. Narrow cabinets on the exterior wall and recessing the wall ovens into the bathrooms space allowed for the creation of a long island. The new bay window adds a functional counter space and reflects an existing element from the front of the home.
The clients continue to be very happy with their kitchen remodel.
