New accessory dwelling unit from an existing two car garage

A white tiled bathroom showing a wall with a hanging toilet and sink. There's lighting and a mirror over the sink and a window on the far wall.

The bathroom has a wall hung toilet and a wall hung sink to create a clean, modern look while allowing the modest size bathroom to feel spacious and be easy to clean.  Additionally there is a stacking washer/dryer in the bathroom.

The project was to convert an existing garage into an accessory dwelling unit. The challenge was that it's volume could not be increased. The vaulted cathedral ceiling over the living space and the kitchen adds visual height, architectural interest, and definition while providing dramatic brightness and directing the view away from the bedroom area. The bedroom area has plenty of storage and light as well as room for a queen bed.

The kitchen is bright and airy kitchen and has storage, plenty of light and a generous amount of countertops. Placing the sink with it's counter under the existing window maximizes the natural light. The stove, refrigerator, and tall pantry are located along the back wall to keep the volume of the space modern and simple. The peninsula provides ample preparation space, storage, an eating area, and a conceptual separation from the living space.
